Google's growth a potential boon to Plus One |

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - One of the biggest deals ever for Plus One Health Management may have just gotten bigger.
Google Inc., which recently tapped the New York-based firm to oversee its corporate wellness program, just signed a 40-year lease on a NASA-owned property close to the media giant's Silicon Valley headquarters, where it plans to build a high-tech office complex that will include state-of-the-art dining, fitness, sports and recreation facilities.
STORY CONTINUES BELOWAdvertisement "We like to think that we'll get the job, figuring that we're their sole [wellness] provider in the U.S.," said Plus One vice president Tom Maraday. "But we don't have confirmation on that."
Since late last year, Plus One has been managing fitness operations at "Googleplex" headquarters in Mountain View, after taking over a contract previously held by TimeOut Services Inc., a corporate wellness firm in Cupertino, Calif.
The Googleplex is a sprawling office complex that accommodates 11,000 employees with 19 cafeterias and 4 fitness centers.
After signing a $146 million lease on 42.2 acres last week, it appears that Google, one of Plus One's largest and most prominent clients, is poised for further growth.
"This long-term lease agreement is a key component of Google's strategy for continued growth in Silicon Valley," David Radcliffe, Google's vice president of real estate and workplace services, said in a statement.
The company said construction on facilities will proceed in three stages, beginning in September 2013.
Maraday didn't say how long Plus One is under contract with Google, but said that the new complex "is so far out, that we haven't discussed it yet. The things we're working on are for 2009 and 2010. But I'm going to visit [Google headquarters] soon and will bring it up then."
