Exergaming firm sees huge growth |

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - When asked what's new at Xergame Technologies, chief executive Cathi Lamberti paused, took a deep breath and replied with a question of her own.

The company recently changed it's name from Sportwall International, doubled it's revenues twice in the last year, introduced a hot-selling new dance platform, and is preparing to go public in the upcoming months as it plans the release of a full-scale home consumer line, Lamberti said.
"It's a very exciting time for us. Our growth has been unbelievable."
Xergame provides interactive turnkey group-ex systems, such as Sportswalls and the new Xerdance line, to more than 1,200 facilities worldwide.
Sales are split relatively evenly among YMCAs, schools, health clubs and community rec centers, Lamberti said, though Ys represent the company's fastest growing market.
The exergaming category in general, which includes companies like iTech Fitness and Expresso, is showing "exponential growth," she added.
"Mainstream fitness products only reach 13 percent of the population. We're the one's that are reaching the mainstream market, which is people who like to play video games."
Lamberti said the recent migration of sales reps from mainstream suppliers to exergaming companies is a sign that interactive fitness equipment is catching on.
Of the three newest members of Xergame's sales staff, two came from Nautilus and the other from Precor, she said. Xergame's marketing chief, Jim Teatum, served as president of Nautilus from 1999 to 2002.
